Shop Review: KISH

Situated in Makati’s Reposo St., KISH is the ultimate go-to store for design/ decorating inspiration.

The shop is divided into small areas, with each little nook showing of it’s own identity—telling it’s own story. Every corner is visually stimulating and so rich with interesting details that simply walking around and observing will leave your head spinning with a ton of new ideas.

The furniture inside the store are quite pricey but then again, they are investment pieces that you live with forever or eventually hand down to your kids..

Here are some of our favorites:

I love going to Kish! I remember their old store in Greenbelt. Back in October 2002 I was planning my wedding, renovating a townhouse, and shopping for home decor at Kish all at the same time! Time flies so fast. Back then, I wanted to buy EVERYTHING in the whole store. Yesterday, I had the same feeling! Haha! I think they have such an excellent selection of modern Asian home decor and good quality furniture.

I am giving my daughter’s Pottery Barn-esque chest of drawers a new look by painting it glossy black and gold leafing the drawers. (More on that in a future post). So I am on the hunt for new drawer handles to match the “distressed” gold drawers. These would have been perfect! But Kish only had 1 to 2 pieces per design! These are from Bangkok.

I wanted the one on the left, but they didn’t have 8 pieces for me. I also thought the bird knob was simply adorable and sweet!

This coffee table was my favorite in the whole store. It is a sculptural piece and is extremely interesting. One can only imagine the amount of time and effort put into it. I loved how they placed the bowl with polar bear in it. It’s dramatic and fun at the same time!

This is Ito Kish’s Filipino version of Toile de Jouy. It’s a cool idea to Filipinize such a traditional French design element.

If I wasn’t spending so much money on the renovations of my kids’ rooms, I will definitely purchase this tea or coffee set. I loved the texture of the giant sized cups. It’s so graphic modern! (Tip: Graphic Modern is one 2013’s biggest home decor trends!)

This console table and all its accessories took my breath away. I think the marriage of the table’s classic eastern details goes so well with the vase’s modern, structured form.

The semi-open shelf against a floor-to-ceiling window is just genius! The piece still allows natural light to come through, while high-lighting the items on display.

This ceramic pink elephant bowl actually houses a scented candle! I think it is absolutely darling and would be a great place to store your everyday baubles.

Ahhh.. the coffee table, everything about it is perfection. From the intricate woven like base, to the gorgeous washed out color. The generous tabletop allows for it to be used in a multitude of ways.
