Indulging In Everyday Luxury

With the first month of the year about to end, we decided to look back at the intentions, plans and resolutions we’ve set for ourselves. At the very top of that list was making the time to indulge in everyday luxuries. More often than not, we’re always in a rush to tick off things on our never ending to-do lists that we just go through our days on auto-pilot, leaving us exhausted, cranky and uninspired at the end of the day. And while carving out a few minutes a day just for pure pleasure is easier said than done, treating oneself does wonders for your overall wellness. It  boosts self-confidence, improves your mood and serves as a reminder that its ok to put your needs first.

We asked our fave ladies (we’re pretty sure they’re yours too!) who hustle hard yet know how to live life to the fullest to share their favorite everyday luxuries. You’ll be surprised to find out that most of them don’t necessarily break the bank while some are absolutely free! We hope they inspire you to pamper and spoil yourself once in a while, because you absolutely deserve it!

Definitely a glass or two of wine! I don’t mind enjoying it all by myself.

My everyday luxury is a good home cooked meal by my husband (Chef Robby Goco) plus a glass or two of red wine at the end of each day.

That’s easy! A trip to Nail Spa is my only indulgence when it comes to beauty.

A good cup of joe in the morning is my everyday luxury.

My not-quite-daily luxury is a good solo breakfast! And by “good breakfast” I don’t mean a hurriedly grabbed cracker or my kids’ leftovers. I don’t mean something that will go into a healthy living magazine either. I mean something that I love, that I mindfully put together, garnish thoughtfully and plate well. A meal that exists not for health or sustenance or necessity, but because I want it. A meal that exists simply for me. During the weekends there is time for leisurely family breakfasts together, but during the week our schedules are so different, and everyone is rushing, so my breakfasts are my me-time. Preparing these solo breakfasts during the week, from cooking to plating and even shooting them is my meditation.

One thing I TRY to do once a week is get a hair treatment. ( My go-to for years is Juro Salon Exclusif) Since my hair is colored, it tends to be on the dry side, and a hair treatment really does wonders! It takes the frizz (my natural hair is thick and coarse), revives the shine, and lends my locks more bounce! Also, I’m not gonna lie— I really look forward to the massage it comes with! Ha ha! I get up at 5am on school days so a head and shoulder massage is something I ALWAYS look forward to!

After a long day of shooting, binge watching my favorite Netflix shows is luxury for me.

I have 3! An inexpensive luxury for me is definitely my weekly blow dry from my neighborhood parlor! 350 pesos and I feel like a million bucks! I also like to treat myself to a glass of wine when I’m dining alone. Lastly I make sure I have a  Royce Black Chocolate Bar in my bag at all times so I can sneak a bit of really good and yummy chocolate wherever I am!

My weekly luxury is taking workout classes (Pilates at One Life Studio) and getting Facials at Belo every month.

My everyday luxury is using Aesop hand soap for our banyo (and not just for the guest powder room! Haha) and investing in La Mer The Concentrate for my face. Oh and Jo Malone body cream. A little goes a long way!

Exercise has become a necessary luxury for me these days. I was never really athletic growing up and so fitness was always sort of an after thought for me and never a real priority. But now that I’ve discovered the wonders of Pilates through @onelifestudio, I just feel like investing in exercise is the best gift to myself. As a working mom, it’s very difficult to make time for it but I really try my best to squeeze in at least 3 sessions a week. Not only is it amazing for my physical health, it helps me emotionally and mentally too. I am so grateful that my husband supports this “luxury”.. I guess I’m always in a better mood after Pilates, so it’s a win-win for everyone! Hahahaha!

Electric Studio is a bit on the pricey side but I do it once a week as a fitness indulgence. It makes me happy.

Daily, I indulge myself in 15-20 minutes of quiet time in the morning with a (oftentimes cold) cup of coffee. I make an effort to escape the chaos to reflect and give thanks for the day ahead. No money involved, as this is more of an emotional sacrifice; chucking the mom guilt and choosing to spend valuable time for myself in a quiet space (like my bathroom. Haha!) Always worth the investment.

Everyday luxury for me is going to the gym/Pilates. It’s literally my escape from the chores waiting for me at home. As for the weekly thing, I make sure to get a wine night plus Netflix session so I can watch all if my favorite shows or a date night with my husband. Despite the chores and errands, I make sure that there’s a day in the week where I can relax and take it easy. Having no helper at home makes me OC. I can never work without making sure the house is clean or at least there is no mess in sight (and we all know Lego pieces end up EVERYWHERE! haha!). Simple luxury for me is letting go of the things I need to do in order for me to enjoy the things I want to do.

I take time to have a meal at a nearby restaurant just by myself. I work at home so a change of environment is nice and it’s a good time to either space out or think something through.

Everyday luxury for me would be my workout sessions with my girlfriends  and our HIIT coach or my soon-to-be Pilates sessions with One Life Studio. Investing money and time on keeping my body strong does wonders for my all around well-being and mental state.

My yoga practice is my treat to myself. If I can manage to go 3-4 times in a week that would be the dreamiest week ever! Hehe!

Once in a while, I go for a blow-out. I’m always in a ponytail— I really like the messy bun lewk but when I want a pick me up, a good blow out does wonders!

I take afternoon naps and make it a point to get foot massages!

What everyday luxuries do you indulge in? We’d love to know!
