Take your cue from C’s Little Ms. M and Little Ms. A (Chic Peek Mini : Amelia’s room) and decorate your little Miss’ space  with bold prints, exotic fabrics and fun brightly colored accessories! Try picking up a stuffed animal or beautiful textiles from your travels and incorporate them into your daughter’s room.  They add personality to the area and bring back memories from that particular trip.

Such a sweet reading nook! We love how the floor pillows become a makeshift mini daybed when a pile of pillows are thrown into the mix.

The pretty stripe throw looks great  paired with a bright suzani pillow and sweet stuffed elephant. The bright pink flamingo adds a bit of unexpected whimsy to the area.

A hanging wicker chair serves as the perfect neutral canvas to all the bright and bold prints in the room. A pair of solid colored throw pillows pick up the colors of the carpet and anchors the whole look.

Tiny bed, big personality! Don’t be afraid to pile on the prints especially in kids’ rooms. To make mixing and matching a cinch choose one color and make sure that it’s present  in all of your textiles.

Don’t forget the floor! This gorgeous saffron and fuschia rug is all you need to make a statement. Keep furniture as clean and simple as possible.

Wooden pieces act as the perfect backdrop to all the colors and textures in the room. A simple rag rug looks great layered over a chevron rug. Floor pillows are easily stacked and kept in place until friends arrive.

Spotlight On: Birdcages

We’re pretty big fans of birdcages here at The Inspiration Seekers headquarters. And no, we don’t use them to house actual birds. Birdcages have been popping up in a lot of shelter magazines as of late,  I suppose its because they add an unexpected touch of whimsy to any space.  I have one displayed right by our foyer while C has one hanging in her daughter Little Ms. M’s room.  Great for both indoors and outdoors, bird cages posses a certain rustic charm that goes well with most interiors. Here we rounded up some of our favorite ways to  display birdcages:

By keeping everything clean and simple, the antique birdcage takes centerstage in this calm and soothing vignette.

Blue and white painted ceramics inside the bircage, perfectly pick up the lovely pattern of the vase.

The long and narrow birdcage gives the right height to the vignette behind the couch. To add visual interst, books and other objets were placed inside.

The wrought iron birdcage makes a great light fixture in this bold and colorful nursery.

When hung as a group, assorted birdcages are the perfect accessory to a rustic affair.

Step into the trend with L’Indochine’s hand painted birdcages from Indonesia. These brightly colored cages look lovely displayed as a group or solo. Bonus Tip: Remove the hook and install a pendant light, they make lovely overhead light fixtures as well!
